Through PT Hatfield Indonesia, we support the Updating the Javan Rhino Conservation Strategy through Multi-Stakeholder Workshops. The Government of Indonesia (Ministry of Environment and Forestry) established a strategy and action plan for conservation of Indonesian rhinoceros’ species. This document was validated through Regulation from the Ministry of Forestry No. 43/2007 regarding Strategy and Conservation Action Plan of Rhinos in Indonesia. This document is legally binding and is used as guideline for implementing conservation activities from 2007 to 2017. There have been numerous developments and progresses in conservation activities within this time period. More information regarding rhino population in Indonesia, and many breakthroughs in monitoring rhinos in the wild, as well as ex-situ breeding efforts (Sumatran Rhinoceros). With the expiration of the strategy and conservation action plan, and also with above mentioned developments, rhino conservation strategy needs to be updated. Hatfield is required to conduct and facilitate a workshop to ensure identification of gaps, compilation of lesson-learned, identification of opportunities and rooms for improvement.
